The tile of this painting is: C’est de l’art ou du Cochon

“C’est de l’art ou du cochon” is commonly employed to question the artistic value of something, essentially asking, “Is it art or is it crap?”
However, the authentic French expression is “Ne pas savoir si c’est du lard ou du cochon” or “Se demander si c’est du lard ou du cochon”. This phrase captures the essence of uncertainty, prompting one to ponder whether what they are dealing with is genuine or of dubious quality. It reflects a broader sense of ambiguity, inviting contemplation on the authenticity or merit of a given subject.
I’m not sure if this painting is art or crap. That’s up to whomever is looking at it.
What am am sure about is that it was painted on Edisto Island (in South Carolina) for my sister, Suzanne, who lives on the Isle of Skye.
